The metal frame on the concrete base and the metal covering provide weather resistance for the totem, the illuminated signages or design elements are easy to recognize from far away. From an architectural and urban design point of view, a totem is a device for information purposes only, which typically displays the name and logo of the company or companies on both sides, without any other advertising of the activity. From a cityscape point of view, for example, the columns at gas stations, or the columns that advertise prices, other business activities, and campaigns are not classified as totems.
In most cases, the cover of the totems is made of powder-coated aluminium sheet or aluminium composite sheet, supported by a steel frame. It is possible to manufacture flat plexiglass lighting surfaces, but an inlaid front panel can also be used. The dynamic design can be further enhanced by dividing the surface, integrating channel letters, or using digital displays. The lighting is provided by modern, exterior LED modules, so such devices can be manufactured that can operate economically even in the long term, require minimal energy, and low maintenance. For more complex totems, e.g. for rotating ones, we recommend extending the service life of the advertising device by regular checks as part of the maintenance contract.
